Investing in Our Community
Partner Agencies are nonprofits in our community who are doing significant work to change lives. The United Way quite literally partners with these organizations with a proven track record to promote and expand their services through our financial support and bringing additional recognition to their services.
Provides relief to victims of disasters, emergency communications to military members, blood products, and health and safety educations to residents of Limestone County.
United Way funded program: Single family fire program
Instills values in young people, preparing them to make ethical choices throughout their lifetime and achieve their full potential.
United Way funded program: Scouting Program
Provides character-building for all youth through programs that focus on education, life skills, character leadership development, sports, recreation, and the arts.
United Way funded program: Academic Success
The mission of the Family Resource Center is to provide a wide array of services and referrals to services designed to strengthen and support individuals and families in Limestone County.
United Way funded programs: Family Solutions Program and Family Ramp Program
Responds to people in crisis, offering a 24-hour crisis line and services for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. HELPline: 256-716-1000
United Way funded programs: Hope Place, Outreach Services & 211
The ARC/Birdie Thornton Center serves 65 clients daily from 21-70 years old. The Early Intervention Program serves 30 clients from birth to 3 years old.”

Creates supportive environments where youth gain knowledge, skills, and positive attitudes to become responsible and productive citizens in their communities.
United Way funded programs: Youth Leadership, Youth Mentoring, Youth Basic Life Skills, and Reading Buddies
The mission of Girl Scouting is to build girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place. Every girl, everywhere, ages 5-17, who accepts the Girl Scout Promise and Law may become a member.

Helps terminally ill patients and their families live as fully and comfortably as possible through pain and symptom control, counseling, and spiritual support
United Way funded programs: Camp Hope/Bereavement Program and Indigent Care
Literacy Counsel teaches adults (16+) to read; tutors adults in English as a second language, provides skills for parents to tutor their children to improve reading
United Way funded programs: Basic Literacy, ESL, and Computer Assisted Learning Labs
The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church. Its message is based on the Bible. Its ministry is motivated by the love of God. Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.

Provides volunteer opportunities for persons of all ages in the areas of education, health/human services, public safety, environment and disaster preparedness.

Delivers America to the military community. Includes travel assistance, libraries, educational workshops, childcare, language courses, recreational lounges, family crisis intervention, and celebrity entertainment.

That’s what mentoring is all about … It’s not about having all the answers, it’s about listening to what is being said and not being said. Giving another person a hand and showing them some of the things you’ve learned along the way through trial and error.
