United Way envisions a world where all individuals and families achieve their human potential through education, income stability and healthy lives.
Mission
To improve lives by mobilizing the caring power of communities around the world to advance the common good.
United Way of Athens-Limestone County is Unique
United Way is the only non-profit agency that embodies 16 different health and human service agengeinces.
One of the nation's top non-profit organization, the United Way concept has been alive for over 120 years.
United Way of Athens- Limestone County has been positively impacting our community for over 50 years.
Day of Caring
We support an annual day of volunteering held on the second Tuesday of September every year. This day of community activity and involvement allows businesses, agencies, industries and individuals to leave their normal work day to work on community service projects.
2-1-1 One Call Makes Sense
Dialing 2-1-1 connects the caller to a United Way Volunteer who can assess the callers needs and link the caller to the right solution using a comprehensive database of service, non-profit, faith based, federal, state and local government resources.
Financial $ense Program
Continuing the lead from United Way of America our local United Way is working to bring community resources together to build a program called Financial Stability Partnership. The program would offer families who are considered the working poor a 6 month program to help them maximize their income, gain assets, and sustain assets.
Volunteer Front Desk Program
RSVP members volunteer as receptionists for our front desk in the lobby of United Way. The program has enhanced the way in which United Way interacts with the public as they enter the facility.
Toys for Tots
We joined with the United States Marine Corp in helping our community provide toys for children whose families may not be able to provide Christmas presents for them.
Derby Day
Derby Day is held on the first Saturday of May. This event is to honor and thank Leadership Donors and other guests of the Board of Directors. The guest are treated to an afternoon of activities that end with the watching of the Kentucky Derby.
